Ferrari World – WOW

The title says it all. The world first F1 motorsport theme park built under one of the biggest buidlings on one level Ive seen (Puts Jeff’s Shed to shame) is to be opened in Abu Dhabi on the 28th Oct. This building is so big you can see it from the tramac of the International Airport at Abu Dhabi, 5 kilomteres away.

A year late and still not finished this massive construction is built next to the Yas Marina Grand Prix track where the final F1 race of the year will be held on Nov 14. (Guess who has a ticket :) )

Anyway a sneak preview was been provided for invites only over the past 2 weeks and on Saturday night we were lucky enough to head on over and check it out. And so was everyone else who lives in Abu Dhabi, it seems.

In short, traffic queue went for miles, organisation next to minimal and after 30 mins in the traffic (and this is at a place in the middle of nowhere half hour out of town) we bailed and decided to go for dinner at Yas Hotel in the middle of the Grand Prix track instead.

Well that was a genius stroke. Not only was the food amazing (genuine Arab cuisine) but the view of the Grand Prix track and the feeling that you were somewhere special was gold.

So after a delightful relaxing meal we headed back to Ferrari World and basically drove straight up into it and walked in and spent 45 mins there just looking at the grandiose structure and the money that was spent putting it together.

For any F1 or Ferrari buff this would be heaven. To me, it was ok but lacked a lot of content, a fair bit of the place wasnt operational and the bits that were operational and lines bigger than your arm. And in fact it looks as though it may be many months before it is operational fully. Even the Worlds Fastest Rollercoaster was out of action.

At the price we got our ticket (Free) I would say it was truly breathtaking and worth every cent. If I was to come back in a years time and asked to pay $100 AUD I would say, probably not.

Enjoy the pics.
